Local Engines & Docker Orchestration
Eluvix is built to orchestrate and harness local hardware, providing deep integration with popular local inference engines and container runtimes.
Supported Local Inference Backends
Eluvix connects out-of-the-box with:
- Ollama: Seamless discovery of models served on
http://127.0.0.1:11434. - vLLM: High-throughput distributed serving with PagedAttention on
http://127.0.0.1:8000. - Lemonade: Local hardware and private enclave inference runtimes.
Automated Local Model Discovery
Eluvix includes a discovery API at /api/v1/detect-models:
- It actively probes standard local ports (11434 for Ollama, 8000 for vLLM).
- It queries the engine's model list and tags each model with inferred capabilities (
vision, code, chat). - Discovered models appear automatically as available options in the Visual Routing Editor.
Containerized Docker Orchestration
Eluvix provides built-in Docker management APIs, allowing you to monitor and control backend inference containers directly from the web interface:
- Check Status:
GET /api/v1/docker/statusreturns whether engine containers (e.g.agent-router,vllm) are running, stopped, or unhealthy. - Start Services:
POST /api/v1/docker/upspins up required services usingdocker compose. - Stop Services:
POST /api/v1/docker/downgracefully halts containers to free up GPU VRAM. - Inspect Logs:
GET /api/v1/docker/logsstreams recent stdout/stderr output from the target container.
Hardware Auto-Detection Script
The repository includes a hardware auto-detection script at scripts/docker-detect-and-spinup.sh:
chmod +x scripts/docker-detect-and-spinup.sh
./scripts/docker-detect-and-spinup.sh
This utility:
- Detects available GPU hardware (NVIDIA CUDA via
nvidia-smi, Apple Silicon, or CPU fallback). - Calculates available VRAM to recommend optimal quantization levels (Q4, Q8, FP16).
- Configures and starts the appropriate Docker Compose profiles for your hardware.
